The bigger a company is the more arrogant it becomes. And, the idiot-to-intelligent-person ratio spreads like lice at a nursery school. Everything about William Morrow (including the name) screams elitist jerk. If I was a book blogger, which I’m not (I’m barely a blogger at all), I would tell William Morrow to suck it.
Why?
William Morrow sent a letter to all of the book bloggers to whom it sends free books. The letter “warns” the bloggers that if they don’t turn around reviews fast enough, they may be at risk of “losing” the privilege of getting free books to review. Like an aristocrat talking to a servant, Billy reminded its volunteer, free marketing workforce that,
“Your job is simply to review the book within a month of receiving it and post your thoughts on your blog or site. Ideally, we’d like for reviews to appear online within two weeks to a month after the on-sale date, so you might keep this in mind when selecting books.“
You can read the great piece in The LA Times Blog.
You know what they say about looking a gift horse in the mouth?

I’m definitely going to share this post and related article. It goes to show that the elitists abuse the readers as much as the authors. The book bloggers represent the reading masses and their reviews reflect just about what a real reader would think both good or bad. They are not publications that exist in their back pocket that will write good reviews for everything they spit out while trashing anything else. So any book that has good reviews by a LOT of book bloggers could be labeled “Reader Tested…Reader Approved” and not overhyped or “played out” to be better than it really is. I see examples on Amazon a lot by readers who had listened to the hype on a book then were let down. Maybe this latest screw up made by the elite will open more doors for the indie authors. The indie authors for the most part respect the bloggers and play by the bloggers’ rules, and we call then the “grass between our toes so we must tread lightly”. For the traditionally pubbed author they may have to just do it themselves just like everyone else so they can ensure it was done in the right way and not superficial or just plopped on them.
